U.S. $5 Liberty gold coins, MS62
Pre-1900 dates
|
Minted from 1866 to 1907, classic U.S. $5 Liberty gold coins are one of our favorites. Often overlooked in favor of larger-denomination U.S. gold coins, these smaller coins are an excellent value today in certified Mint State 62 condition, offering true scarcity and financial privacy at low prices.
Pre-1900 $5 Liberty coins are substantially scarcer than ones dated 1900 to 1907, yet they're trading today for virtually the same cost, making them an excellent value. True scarcity like this can mean increased profits during periods of peak gold demand.
Beautiful, historic, and scarce
Featuring the classic portrait of Libery of the obverse and the heraldric U.S. eagle on the reverse, $5 Liberty gold coins were the pocket currency of daily life for much of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
The vast majority were heavily worn in circulation, or melted down during gold confiscation of the Depression. Out of the millions originally minted, only a tiny fraction have survived in uncirculated, Mint State 62 grade. Their true scarcity can mean higher premiums during periods of peak demand.
Unlike most forms of gold bullion, they are exempt from broker reporting requirements.
